Who are we and why do we do it?
Barton Gate Charity Steam Rally was set up in 1995 to raise money for Ward 31 at the Derbyshire Royal Infirmary following a serious motorcycle accident involving a son of the Hutton family. The Hutton family and friends wanted a way in which they could repay the hospital for their kindness and hard work. As the family had always been involved in steam preservation, it seemed a natural way for them to raise money and encourage others to join the preservation movement. The current committee is made up of people with a passion for the preservation movement.
We currently support the Midlands Air Ambulance which has a helicopter based at Tatenhill Airfield, about 3 miles from the rally site.
We hope you enjoy browsing this site and look forward to seeing you at the next event.
